Cloudy Days

We all have them, those days where you feel like a gray cloud is covering your head. I spent the better part of the last decade in a fog. From 2009-2019, I was in the fog of mothering two young children, and was simply going through the motions of daily survival. It wasn’t until the end of 2018 and through 2019 that I felt the fog begin to lift. At that time, I began to dig deeper into the Bible and made spending time with God a priority. Then I began to see clearly that, while it is one of the greatest honors, being Naomi and Noelle’s mom is not my only purpose in life. I started praying and asking God what was next for me. He began to speak the truth about who I am in Him and I started to believe him. Every truth that was planted in my heart cleared the fog of uncertainty and by the time 2020 arrived, I was very clear on one thing. It is time to move.
It was like I was the Children of Israel, waiting for the cloud to lift off the Tabernacle to move to the next stop on their way to the promise land. All those years, God had placed that fog over me to let me know that I was right where He wanted me to be. I was meant to be primarily at home, raising my two girls, and taking care of my family. I was to make sure they know they are loved and safe and that they are my priority always. Now, that the fog is lifted, I know they are secure and I can begin to move forward with the rest of the calling God has placed on my life. The fire that was lit inside of me from 10 years of waiting is ready to be released to the world for the glory of God.
The Children of Israel traveled for 40 years through the wilderness to get to Canaan. Throughout that time, they stopped and went based on whether the cloud of God’s glory was lifted or covering the Tabernacle. Numbers 9:22-23 says, “Whether the cloud stayed above the Tabernacle for two days, a month or a year, the people of Israel stayed in camp and did not move on. But as soon as it lifted, they broke camp and moved on. So they camped or traveled at the Lord’s command, and they did whatever the Lord told them through Moses.” It also says, “at night the cloud that covered the Tabernacle had the appearance of fire.”
What happens to the heat that comes off fire when there is no place for it to go? It creates pressure, right? I know some of you might feel like you have a cloud over you and that you are stuck with no place to go. The enemy will try to trick you and say this is depression, that you don’t have talent, or that you need to be someone else to make things happen. But let me submit for your consideration that God has the cloud covering you, the Tabernacle, the Temple of the Holy Spirit to protect you and to build that pressure so that when it is time for you to move, all the built up pressure from the fire inside of you will be your momentum to propel you forward on the path made ready for you by your Heavenly Father. You are more than capable and at the right time, the cloud will lift and you will be on your way, once again, to your Promise.
